Two routes
| Route | For | Result | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| App transfer | Released apps on individual or organization accounts | The app moves to your account with ratings, reviews and bundle ID; users keep getting updates | You need your own account; accept within 60 days |
| Account Holder change | Organization accounts | The new Account Holder runs the whole account | Must be a team member with legal authority to bind the organization |
Individual Account Holder roles are generally not transferable — Apple only helps when a minor comes of age or the holder has died. For individual accounts with apps, we use app transfer.
App transfer criteria
- Neither account is pending or changing, and both accepted the latest paid and free agreements.
- At least one version was released on the App Store, and it is not on pre-order.
- The app is not Waiting for Review, In Review, Pending Developer Release or similar.
- In-app purchases are Approved, Ready to Submit, Developer Removed from Sale or Rejected, and their IDs do not clash with yours.
- Apple Arcade games and sandboxed Mac apps sharing an app group container cannot move.
Steps
- You provide your Account Holder's Apple Account and Team ID.
- The seller's Account Holder selects Transfer App on the App information page, agrees and submits.
- Your Account Holder accepts in App Store Connect; the request expires after 60 days.
- For auto-renewable subscriptions, the seller shares an app-specific shared secret first so your server can keep validating.
- The seller then hands over source and build assets; keychain sharing, push notifications and similar need reconfiguring.
Check first
- Membership type and renewal date. The Apple Developer Program is US$99 a year.
- Release date, ratings, downloads and revenue.
- Rejections, removals or warnings.
- In-app purchase and subscription status.
- Whether source, certificates and push setup are included.
