Three limits first
- Individual and company accounts cannot convert; a different type means a new account.
- The publisher display name cannot change after registration.
- Moving an app to another account is not self-service; the current account asks Partner Center support.
How it works
- Check the card: type, company, published apps and ratings.
- Prepare the receiving account: individual accounts use a personal Microsoft account; company accounts can use one or a Microsoft Entra ID work account.
- The seller files a request under Help > Contact support with the app and target account.
- Provide what support asks for; Microsoft's reply decides.
Microsoft's documentation does not promise that ratings, reviews or usage data move with an app; confirm per app with support before handover.
When it is worth it
- You want an app that already has users and ratings.
- You need an already verified company account.
- For an empty account, register yourself for free.
