What the rule says
Since 27 May 2026 owner changes must use Play Console's official transfer. Unofficial transfers are prohibited, including buying, leasing or selling illegitimately obtained accounts on third-party marketplaces, and both sides are responsible for what happens during the transfer.
What is allowed
- Acquisitions, restructuring and staff changes can change the owner through the official process.
- Moving one app without the account uses the app transfer process.
What breaks it
- Sharing a login or sending a password.
- Reselling illegitimately obtained accounts on third-party marketplaces.
What it means for buyers
A password-only account can be taken back, and the handover itself is an unofficial transfer the policy bans. The official transfer leaves a record, verifies identity and puts the account under your own Google Account.
How we work
Every Google handover uses the official owner transfer or app transfer, never a shared login. Whether the service fits your business and compliance rules is your call.
