Common fakes
- A new account sold as old: the month does not match, or it was registered after 13 Nov 2023 but sold as test-exempt.
- Stitched or cropped screenshots with policy notices cut out.
- The seller is not the owner, only a borrowed member.
- Only a store link, while the app sits on another account.
- A monetizing personal account sold as transferable.
Check the registration date
Ask the seller to show account details and the app list live in Play Console by screen share, not screenshots. The oldest app's first release date is a lower bound for the account's age.
Check the apps belong to the account
The developer name on the store page must match the account, and the same package name must appear in the Play Console app list.
Check the seller is the owner
Only the owner can start an ownership transfer. A seller who adds you as a member and starts the official transfer at least has owner rights.
Check policy status
Open the policy status page and inbox live for warnings, violations or suspensions; do not accept cropped screenshots.
The official transfer is the best check
Only the owner can start it in Play Console, the new owner verifies identity, and everything stays in Google's system — more reliable than any screenshot. Refusing the official transfer is the clearest warning sign.
Questions
Are screenshots enough?
No. Screenshots can be edited; key pages should be shown live, and the official transfer is the final check.
How do I confirm an app belongs to the account?
The store page developer name matches and the same package name is in the Play Console app list.
